Our First Nativity

Back in the day, Christmas Eve was filled with parties and the like, followed by a late night carol service. The church would be transformed by reams of gold, silver or purple cloth, flickering candles and filled with festive expectation.
But that was then, Sheffield, England with Advent courtesy of Liz Lovell and this is now, Phoenix, Arizona and a completely new stage of life.
Today we went to the family nativity service - where the little 'uns dressed up and were part of the nativity story. Lots Tia's friends were involved. Lucy and Daisy Robinson were angels, Lily was a star. Bronte and Leighton Rapps were inkeepers. And Neo taught us all that there was a Dalmatian at the manger too.
And our Tia was a shepherd, but refused to wear the head gear, giving us a "don't mess with the 'do" glare. She liked getting up on to the stage then getting off again. Zoe completely opted out this time, content to scream at the start of the service, then drink and sleep for the rest.
Not the same kind of contemplative feel that we had in our Sheffield days, but it was very entertaining!
